Rosie King wrote and submitted this poem at the invitation of the Theodore Roethke Home Museum. 90 copies were printed at Foolscap Press and she was invited to read I Flew Low over Gratiot Road at the museum for the centennial celebration of Theodore Roethkes birth in Saginaw Michigan. A copy is on display at the museum. Both poets childhood homes are located on Gratiot Road and as a child Rosie King walked the road to school. Her poem is based on a dream.
